The 3 Main Types of Digital Menus - Ipad Menus for Restaurants

The new trend of digital restaurant menus has lots of variations, with each restaurant choosing the type that’s right for them.

Menu Boards
In fast food enterprises, we see a lot of the “menu board” – a huge screen that customers read from afar, and owners can update as often as they like (for example: when breakfast time ends and lunch time begins).

Mvix creates digital menu boards for restaurants like the ones below.

Online Menus
Restaurants that have a lot of take out orders are boosting their business via online menus. People can order in the comfort of their own home, then go to the restaurant to pick up their order or have it delivered.

The way this works is: many restaurants join together to offer their menus online at the same web site, thus giving web visitors a wide variety to choose from.

Seamless.com is an example of this idea:

Interactive Restaurant Menus
Two types of interactive menus are in use in restaurants today: Self-Order Kiosks and Interactive IPads.

Self-Order Kiosks
Quick service and “fast casual” type restaurants can use self-order kiosks to shorten their wait times and increase customer satisfaction. Kiosks can look sort of like ATM kiosks, or they can be an IPad kiosk – which is basically an IPad mounted on a secure pedestal.

Interactive Ipads
Interactive Ipads (or Tablets) that are used at the table offer many options and features. Both “fast casual” and fine dining restaurants can use this type of digital menu.

With their IPad menu in hand, a customer can select food and drinks with the help of photographs, descriptions, and even Facebook reviews. The restaurant owner can showcase special offers, or do a little discreet advertising.
